In the market for a new seat / re do current seat / local upholsterer / etc.

Only had the stock seat since new over 100k on bike and have always felt like sitting on two planks. Went for a ride over the weekend about 2 hours and butt just pissed at me.

Seems to be a lot of options and a new seat, unknown comfort, is between 600 and over a 1000.

How does anyone get through the myriad of reviews and opinions to find the right seat?

Oh yeah, still need a seat the vinyl is tearing up pretty good.

I had mine recovered at about 90K miles. I traded back in October for a new CCT. The seat doesn't fit me correctly so I am making an appointment with a company called Bitchn Stichn in the Denver CO area. If you take the bike to them, they will have you sit on it and find the pressure points that need fixed and modify the seat to fit you. I had a friend do this last summer on a 7,000 mile ride. He rode 700 miles to them and his ass was pretty sore when he got there. He finished the rest of the ride after the modifications and the seat was not an issue again.

I had a Russell Day Long seat made for my Honda ST1300. It was a great seat. I have not found a need to change the stock VV seat. However, Mustang now makes a seat for the Vision. I have friends that say they are great seats.

you can buy a replacement seat cover from Ebay if you want to DIY the seat. They make 'em for the tour pack back rest too in you need that to match the seat.

cool, thanks, looking to possibly make the seat softer, or taller or something to change the hotpoints.

Had the seat remade after I had the wife's XVS650 seat reworked. She could only do 300Kms and the ride turned into a bum-numbing PITA thereafter. New seat from MJM in Goulburn, NSW at AUD 450, she could stay on the ride all day.

Mine includes harder, custom contoured padding and new covers, plus the matching backrest: absolutely a work of art. At 100kg, the standard seat padding just bottomed out onto the seat pan on bumps. The guys at MJM can work from photos as well.

Had a Russell Day Long done last year before a 3,000 ride, prior years before the new seat it was painful. last year was total comfort. Did a couple of 500+ days with no back or butt issues. I highly recommend the seat
